Most Anticipated Video Games Of July 2024

July 2024 is bringing plenty of brand-new games from action to combat role-playing. Yet again, we have lined up our most anticipated video games of the month that you should look out for! Most of the games this month are sequels, so you may recognise some familiar titles, it’s great to see so many successful games receive yet another addition to their collection. So hurry, let’s check them out now.

Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail

First up, releasing at the very start of the month on July 2nd is Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail, the multiplayer, role-playing video game released on PlayStation and Xbox. The upcoming match nicknamed Final Fantasy 14 is the next expansion to the MMORPG Final Fantasy. The game expands the story of the players Warrior of Light and the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. The game follows the events recorded in the Shadowbringers expansion where the Scions return from the First to continue their war against the Garlean Empire. Final Fantasy XIV is very anticipated amongst fans due to being part of the iconic Final Fantasy Series and also being part of the 5th expansion pack.

Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown

Heading into the 2nd week of July on July 11th, we have Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown. This combat, shooter video game exclusive to Nintendo Switch is based in the traditional setting of Strangereal, the game follows the exploits of "Trigger", who is a fighter pilot assigned to a penal squadron following an accusation of murder, set amid a war between the countries of Osea and Erusea. The game is very anticipated since it is the first new entry in the series since 2014 when Ace Combat Infinity was released, the 7th instalment of this game was released in July and was actually previously released to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2019, and now 5 years later is also available to Nintendo gamers.

Darkest Dungeon 2

Darkest Dungeon 2 is a role-playing video game which is releasing on PlayStation on July 15th. This 2024 edition is being described as a content upgrade adding a second campaign mode to the game. Besides the main mode Confessions, players dive into a new game called Kingdoms mode offering a new form of gameplay which is a race against time. The original version of this game was released in 2016, and almost 10 years later it is back with a fresh new story with this thrilling, long-awaited sequel.

Schim

Next up is Schim, a platform, adventure video game releasing on Nintendo Switch. Releasing on July 18th, players skim through the shadows exploring the game's abstract world, and follow the journey of Schim the soul and essence of a human which has been separated and must become reunited again. Full of unique graphics, with exciting gameplay and a brand new story, this game is well anticipated amongst many gamers.

Frostpunk 2

And finally, nearing the end of our list releasing on July 25th is the strategy video game Frostpunk 2, which we will be seeing on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Take on the role of the city's new leader ‘The Steward’ and delve into the consequences of what it’s like to take charge. Build a much larger city and rule the town! The original Frostpunk game was released back in 2018 on PS4 and Xbox One, so we cannot wait to see how this new game differs including when it comes to improved graphics and overall gaming features.
