When researching the iconic WII steering wheel and WII balance boards, we started to wonder what other weird WII controller accessories had been made for the console. As we started searching, expecting to find 1 or 2 other accessories, we were met with a plethora of hilarious add-ons that actually exist!
So let's look at some of the best ones including their purpose, price and what we rated out of 10 in terms of weirdness!

Bowling Ball:
By far the strangest of the WII accessories was the WII Bowling Ball. It was a small, blue, plastic ball that the WII controller fit inside of. However, this made gameplay very challenging because although the accessory had the 3 standard bowling ball holes to put your fingers into, obviously the ball and controller couldn't be thrown at the TV. So it was purely for design.
Due to the design flaws, pointless need and overall stupidity, the bowling ball has to be given a 9/10 for weirdness. It's starting off strong!
WII Wings:
It's one of our favourite ones on the list simply because it's so random. The WII Wings were made for the WII Fit Plus mini games, so players could look and feel like they were flying. But this was it. The controllers didn't go inside the wings they were just to add to that 'flying' effect.
The WII Wings have to be our weirdest find because you don't even need the controller to use them! Straight 10/10, pointless and hilarious.
WII football:
Again, very similar to the bowling ball, this accessory was used in various sports games. But equally, the ball couldn't be thrown so proved to be useless. Also, although the buttons could be accessed inside the ball, they were very sensitive when touched.
This football is very similar to the bowling ball meaning we'll give this option a 9/10 as well, it has no real need!
Inflatable racing kart:
Next up has to be my favourite accessory. The inflatable racing kart. Made for the iconic Mario Kart, this accessory blows up to become a giant racing car that the player can get into and connect their controller to, so it felt like you were driving the car! However, whilst this sounds brilliant, the car was wobbly (with it being inflatable) it had no sides to was easy to fall out of and there was barely any leg room. Whilst it sounds like a good idea, there are many flaws.
The racing car sounds like a great idea, but it's impractical, it was a great idea with a poor execution and because of this we can't rate it high in terms of weirdness. Therefore, the inflatable racing kart will receive a 6/10 points.
Billiards cue:
Whilst a cue to play WII Pool or Snooker sounds like a brilliant idea, the actual execution of the accessory yet again is pointless. Many gamers who've used this accessory commented that their cue snapped whilst playing after only a couple uses because the material was quite flimsy.
We do think this was a strange add-on to include, considering the standard WII controller does already slightly resemble a cue with it being a stick shape. But due to it's poor quality and design, this accessory is probably a 3/10.
Fishing rod:
The fault with the pool cue was very similar to our next accessory, the WII Fishing Rod. Whilst this again is a great idea for the WII Sports games, actually using the accessory itself was a task. The user needed both the Wii controller and nun chuck to use the accessory so if you didn't have both controllers, you can't play!
We do love this concept though, incorporating both the controllers helps make the fishing rod feel slightly more real and the concept is very imaginative. It's not a totally weird or boring choice so we put this straight down the middle at 5/10.
WII Zapper:
The WII Zapper on paper sounds like a great idea, it's a crossbow/shooter gun to be used in games like Ghost Squad and Link's Crossbow Training. However, when using the zapper, gamers noticed it made gameplay harder as it was more difficult to aim. It would be great to see another version of this controller with these improvements fixed, as it has potential!
With the improvements we suggested, we could see this accessory being big, we rate it 6/10 for now.
Knockout Boxing Gloves:
Next up was the iconic boxing gloves that could be used alongside various boxing and sporting games. They are small gloves that velcro attach to your controller to make hand-made fighting feel more realistic. But it turned out that once the controller was inside the glove, it couldn't be accessed. If you wanted to pause the game, return to the menu or simply select another option, the controller wouldn't respond at all. Players need to take the controller out of the glove to perform simple instructions.
Great for any boxing fans laying the WII just a shame on the poor practicality, we rate it a 4/10.
Cooking Mama Pan and Utensils:
The WII Cooking Mama Pan and Utensils was one of the first WII accessory's made for a certain game, the Cooking Mama series. It was a great idea as it bought the idea of cooking to life in your living room! But there were a couple downfalls, the pan would block the sensor of the controller whilst the utensils were very flimsy, therefore affecting gameplay and scores.
This accessory is rather random, it can only be used for one game really and wasn't actually needed, we rate it high on our weirdness scale, 7/10.
Golf club:
And finally, we have the WII Golf Club. We put this option last on our list as we feel like out of all the ridiculous accessories, it did have some uses. Of course, it was for use in the classic WII Sports games, alongside other solo golfing games, so it had many uses. Also, it didn't seem to flimsy or breakable. Our only concerns was that the club made the controller feel unbalanced, which led to inaccurate scores.
We like this golf club and think it has potential, 3/10 for weirdness.

Conclusion:
Have you heard of any of these crazy accessories? Which one would you love to try out? Upon researching it seems like a lot of issues with these add-ons were caused by a disturbance to the controllers sensor, we'd love to see how these accessories would perform if these issues were solved.
