PS Plus Games May 2022

It’s the end of the month again. And with another Bank Holiday Monday to enjoy off, I am sure many of us are looking forward to the weekend. But there is another thing to look forward to, the next line-up of free PS Plus games.

This also means that it is your last chance to get the PS Plus games for April. You have until May 3rd to pick up Hood: Outlaws and Legends, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom and Slay the Spire. It is also the last chance to download Persona 5 from the PlayStation Plus collection. Though this will be removed on the 11th of May. Now, let’s get until the PlayStation Plus games for May 2022.

FIFA 22 (PS5 & PS4)

First in the line-up is quite a big one. FIFA 22, the most recent FIFA release, is going to be free for PS Plus members to download in May. Perfect timing it seems. As EA’s most popular FIFA promotion, Team of the Season is just around the corner. In May in fact. So, if you are a big fan of football, want to upgrade to the newest game or even just want to give the game a go. Now is the perfect time to do it.

I am certain that most of you know what FIFA is. But for those who may be unaware, FIFA is a football or soccer game where you can play as your favourite team against another. You can make your team offline and play for trophies and accomplishments in career mode or play against others online with your ultimate team or as set teams.

FIFA 22 has received favourable reviews online. With a score of 7.8 user score on Metacritic. If you are a big fan of football, then it is worth giving this game a go. If you have played any of the previous entries, you know what you can expect gameplay-wise as it has remained very similar over the years. But you can expect general improvements like graphics, performance, and features.

FIFA 22 is normally priced at £59.99 on the PS Store, so you will be saving quite a lot if you are a PS Plus member.

Tribes of Midgard (PS5 & PS4)

Tribes of Midgard is the second game to make its way to PS Plus May 2022. FIFA 22 is the pick of the month, but we still have some decent additions to pour through. Tribes of Midgard may be a game that you’ve heard of, but I imagine that it is new to a lot of users.

What is Tribes of Midgard? To put it simply, Tribes of Midgard is an action-adventure game that mixes a series of survival and roguelike elements. It is a co-op game too. You must defend your village from a series of attackers, ranging from giants to lizards and so much more. In each session, you are dropped into a randomly generated location that you must fight through. The further you get from the village, the better the reward.

Tribes of Midgard also received generally mixed reviews all around. With relatively low reviews on the PS4 (4.9 user score), mixed or average reviews on the PS5 (6.8) and generally favourable reviews on PC (8.0). Tribes of Midgard received praises for its easy to pick up gameplay. But where this game certainly seems to suffer is its repetitiveness.

Tribes of Midgard is valued at £15.99 on the PlayStation Store.

Curse of the Dead Gods (PS4)

The third and final game making its way to the PS Plus collection for May is Curse of the Dead Gods. Like with Tribes of Midgard, I assume many of you may be new and unfamiliar with this game.

Curse of the Dead Gods is a roguelike game that takes you deep into a dark temple that is full of countless encounters. You can wield a series of weapons like swords, spears, bows and guns against a massive variety of enemies that get in your way. And to make your attempts far more of a struggle, come a series of special curses that twist up your gameplay every time.

Curse of the Dead Gods too received generally positive reviews. With an average user score of 7.8 on Metacritic. Praises were often given to the games' combat and art styles, and a relatively balanced curse system. Though some of you may not be keen on the lack of story, or you might prefer it!

Curse of the Dead Gods is priced at £15.99 on the PS Store.

With the PS Plus Games of May, you will be saving yourself around £92. A nice discount all around. Though some of you may want to be careful with those microtransactions on FIFA.
