PS Plus Games January 2023

PS Plus Games January 2023-Custom Controllers UK

2023 is here! And with it, the newest lineup of PS Plus essential games. And the first PS Plus essential games of 2023 certainly do not disappoint.

The free PS Plus game line up tends to be very solid, last month we got Mass Effect Legendary Edition, Biomutant and Divine Knockout: Founder’s Edition. Saving players roughly £115 in total. And this month you will be saving roughly £95 (on the PS Store) with the PS Plus essential games. Let’s get to it.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (PS4 & PS5)

First in the free PS Plus games for January 2023 is Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. And what an amazing time to start playing it. In the Game Awards in December, the sequel to this game (Star Wars Jedi: Survivor) was revealed for the first time and looks to be one of the biggest games in 2023. If you are big into Star Wars and/or action-adventure games, you should seriously consider playing this game.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order follows Cal Kestis, a Jedi Padawan who had luckily survived Order 66. You follow Cal on his quest to complete his training and try to restore the Jedi Order, all while staying one step of the Empire and its deadly Inquisitors.

The story and gameplay of Fallen Order received a lot of praise. With a gripping storyline that respects the lore of the universe, and combat that is packed with powerful and entertaining abilities, combat, and weapons.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is normally worth £44.99 on the PS Store, and with Jedi: Survivor set to release in only a few months it is worth picking up for free now with PS Plus.

 Pros: Cons:
  • Good selection of new characters
  • Amazing visuals
  • Good balance of difficulty
  • Occasional technical issues

Fallout 76 (PS4)

Second, in the PS Plus free games for January 2023 is Fallout 76. Another triple-A game that PS Plus subscribers can pick up for nothing. This is a bit of an iffy one as Fallout 76 is available in the game catalogue for PS Plus Extra and Premium. But for this month only, it will be available for free for all PS Plus subscribers.

Fallout 76 brings multiplayer to the nuclear apocalyptic world that we all love. Letting you enjoy the spoils of blasting through ghouls, raiders, creatures and more with your friends. And not to mention lots of loot to plunder in a map four times the size of Fallout 4, and nuclear weapons to make the experience complete.

Not to mention this game is still being supported, with numerous free DLCs like Nuka-World on tour, The Pitt, Wastelanders and Steel Dawn that offer new quests, rewards, and areas to explore.

Fallout 76 is normally worth £34.99 on the PS Store.

 Pros: Cons:
  • Good combat
  • Locations and environments are stunning
  • Multiplayer quests don't fell as thought out

Axiom Verge 2 (PS4 & PS5)

The last of the free PS Plus games is Axiom Verge 2. A Metroidvania platformer game and sequel to the award-winning Axiom Verge. Developed and published by Thomas Happ Games LLC in August 2021 and receiving an upgrade for PS5 in August 2022.

Axiom Verge 2 puts you into the ruins of a high-tech alternate Earth-like world, packed with lethal machines, huge battle monsters and advanced weaponry to take them down. Though this game is a sequel and part of the same story as Axiom Verge, it is a completely new game. Featuring brand-new characters, weapons, enemies, and a new world to explore.

Axiom Verge 2 is normally worth £14.99 on the PS Store but will be free until the start of February.

 Pros: Cons:
  • Good story
  • Great art design
  • Map layout isnt best
