Next up is another recent release, 2023’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre. This asymmetrical multiplayer horror game features 4 victims attempting to escape a family of cannibals before they catch and kill them. Rated on our overall scare experience as a 7/10, this is another game highly built up on tension and face on jump scares between the hunter and the hunted, along with a general spooky atmosphere, characters, and game setting.

Stray Souls is a brand-new game, currently set for release end of October, which is an adventurer shooter game that tells the dark story of a teenage called Daniel who must face his past. With advanced facial features of CGI characters, we have high hopes that this game will feel very realistic and terrifying.
But with the game still waiting to be released, we have no further stats or ratings, we cannot wait to play when its finally released!
4- Alan Wake Remastered:
Alan Wake Remastered is a 2021 survival horror game following a troubled author called Alan Wake who is on a mission to search for his missing wife. With a good amount of horror and built up stress for players that creates mystery within the game, we decided to score this game an overall scare rating of 8/10.

5- Resident Evil 4 remake:
This classic survival horror game being remastered and re-released in 2023 had to be put onto our list. With our 9/10 overall scare rating, Resident Evil 4 Remake follows a special government agent who’s facing evil in a European Village whilst trying to save the presidents daughter. Compared to the original, this game offers a lot more scare factors as the horror aspects are increased, putting players into the main characters shoes further elevating the tension.

2022 bought horror fans another spine-chilling experience with the action-adventure game, A Plaque Tale: Requiem. With our overall scare rating of 8/10, the game follows Amicia and Hugo who are attempting to start a new life, but Hugos cursed powers reawaken bringing death and destruction in a flood of devouring rats. For any gamers that love anxiety and tension induced gaming, this is the one for you!

For any gamers who is after an action fighting game with a touch of horror, Bloodborne is you for! Released in 2015, Bloodborne follows a story where the player unravels a cities mystery whilst fighting beasts and cosmic beings. We rated this game an overall scare rating of 9/10 due to its gothic settings, multitude of monsters and horror gameplay systems that only get more terrifying as the game goes on.

Layers of Fear delves deep into the mind of an insane painter to discover his secret of madness. This 2016 survival horror game scares players in new ways that will make you question everything.
