Ten Games You Need to Play with the New PS Plus-Custom Controllers UK

A big piece of news that we got this week in the world of gaming was the reveal of dozens of new games that would be making their way into the new PS Plus Extra and Premium lineups. And there are a lot of games truly. So many that I can’t cover all of them in one blog. So today, we have chosen our top ten picks for the games that you will be able to play with the new tiers of PS Plus.

To clarify these games are confirmed to be available with the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium Tiers. The Essential tier is not confirmed to have any of these games. This list also has no specific order.

God of War (2018)

First on this list is the 2018 game of the year God of War. No surprise here. An exceptional game that takes you on a gripping adventure through the mythical world of Midgard. If you have not played this game yet you are seriously missing out.

This game follows Kratos, the Greek God of War, and his son Atreus. Who are both being hunted by a mysterious stranger on their tough journey. A brilliant story to be sure. You get to see Kratos and Atreus grow closer as father and son, along with lots of brutal action and beautiful scenery. This game is just a masterpiece. And with God of War Ragnarok potentially coming out later this year, it is worth getting ahead.

Last of Us Remastered

No surprise that this game makes it here either. Last of Us is easily one of the best narrative games I have ever played. And the fact it will be free with PS Plus Extra, and Premium is an absolute blessing. The Last of Us delivers such a beautiful story with such interesting characters and is all worthy of the praise it has received since its initial release in 2013.

If you haven’t heard of this game or played it before, I will give a quick rundown. The Last of Us throws you into a post-apocalyptic America where most of the population has been turned into Zombies by the Cordyceps Brain Infection. You play as Joel, a man who lost absolutely everything when the outbreak first occurred, who is tasked with taking a young girl, Ellie, across the country to a group called the “Fireflies.”

Bioshock Remastered

Bioshock Remastered is the third game to make its way into this list. And it’s not just in here because it’s my favourite game franchise. Bioshock Remastered gives you complete access to all three games in the highly-rated Bioshock series. Those being Bioshock, Bioshock 2 and Bioshock Infinite. Along with all DLCs that were released for them.

Bioshock is a game that throws you into some very deep and rich narratives. Each game takes very different approaches to its environments, characters, plot twists and fantasy themes. But all of it works in almost every way. But what is most memorable is the game's approach to locations and atmosphere. You get to explore some unique places. Like the dark and ravaged deep-sea city of Rapture and the glorious floating city of New Columbia.

Horizon Zero Dawn

Horizon Zero Dawn started the increasingly popular Horizon game series. Originally released in 2017, Horizon Zero Dawn received many praises upon release. With its gameplay and narrative being very highly rated by the PlayStation community. And even this year, the long-awaited sequel, Horizon Forbidden West, was finally released.

Horizon Zero Dawn throws you into a post-apocalyptic world that is inhabited by a huge variety of robotic creatures. You play as Aloy, a hunter for the Nora, on a quest to discover where she came from and to prevent a powerful threat from destroying the land.

Demon Souls

Demon Soul's remake set the bar for the PlayStation 5. Being one of the first upgraded games to release for the next-gen console, Demon Souls did not disappoint. All the bosses, locations and weapons looked and felt extraordinary when you experienced them. A true and fantastic remake that is an all-around sensational experience.

This game is the perfect place to start if you have never played a souls-like game before. Elden Ring released has been the game to talk about this year. And if you want the best chance if you are a new player, then Demon Souls is a great game to build your experience and get used to the type of combat that you see in souls-like games.

Bloodborne

Of course, it is on here. And why wouldn’t it be? FromSoftware’s hit game from 2015 is simply incredible. Everything about this game just works. The city of Yharnam as a location is so powerful. It's a dark and unsettling environment that sets the stage for a breath-taking experience. The gameplay remains consistently smooth and fast-paced, the level design never ceases to amaze, and the enemies all look so unique and deadly (which they certainly are).

Everything about Bloodborne is just brilliant. If you are going to play a souls-like game, this is one you want to get into.

Ghost of Tsushima

Critically acclaimed PlayStation game Ghost of Tsushima is another option that will become available, and it is a game that shines out. You can so clearly see how inspired the team was to make the game. This game does so well in displaying Japanese traditions, and the history of the country, everything is just so good.

Gameplay and story-wise this game hardly miss the mark. It tells such a brutal but beautiful story along with a combat system that just works. And the island of Tsushima and its visual beauty makes it all perfect.

Returnal

After only being released last year, Returnal is a game you should look into playing with PS Plus Extra/Premium. Returnal is a roguelike game that puts you in a dense environment against hordes of lethal enemy types. Where every time you die, the environment changes. Making your experience unique almost every time.

Praises for this game go to its gameplay. Its enemy variety and attacks keep you constantly on your toes at all points in the game. You will slowly but surely learn how each opponent behaves and attacks, helping you to overcome them. And the bosses spread through the game are no joke either. Every single one of them tests you in different ways and pushes you to the limit. The story here, though not being a major focus of the game, also works quite well. It brings you to question things that are happening on the planet and how it got to this point.

Shadow of the Colossus

We can’t ignore the iconic PS2 game. Shadow of the Colossus is a game that most veteran players will remember. Who wouldn’t forget climbing and outsmarting colossal opponents and taking them down. Even players who haven’t played this have probably heard of it before.

A game that has a subtle but strong story that puts you on a deadly test. 16 different colossi, all of which feature unique designs and puzzles that will serve you a truly unforgettable gameplay experience.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

The last of our picks is the highly acclaimed Uncharted 4. The most recent game release in the Uncharted series, and a great one at that. Uncharted 4 takes you on a very fun and capturing story as Nathan Drake on the search for Captain Henry Avery’s lost treasure. Just like with the previous entries, you get to discover and explore some very exciting locations and levels. Along with several entertaining and mind-boggling puzzles, that are a staple in the Uncharted series.

Those are our ten picks for games that you can get your hands-on with the new PS Plus tiers when they come out. What game are you looking forward to? Let us know in the comments below.
